• <br />• <br />• <br />COUNCIL WORK SESSION APRIL 23, 1997 <br />Council Member Neal requested that Lino Lakes send East Grand Forks $5,000 from the <br />Community Development Block Grant funds to aid in their recovery from recent <br />flooding. <br />Staff will contact the City Attorney to determine if the City can legally send this money. <br />YMCA (Y) COMMUNITY INTEREST INTERVIEWS, THURSDAY, MAY 15, <br />1997, BRIAN WESSEL <br />The Y is interested in exploring the possibility of building a new Y in the Lino Lakes <br />area. It would be an extension of the Shoreview Y and could be a joint venture by the St. <br />Paul Y and the Minneapolis Y. A joint venture has never been done before. <br />Staff has been working with the Y and would like to form a group of about 25 people to <br />aid in an attempt to convince the Y that the Village is an ideal location for a new Y. Staff <br />noted that it is important that the Lino Lakes Council express interest in the project. <br />Mr. Lindblad noted that several years ago, a citizens group was loo • outh/teen <br />center and asked if this group could be included in the Y Cent u ► xplained <br />that this could be a joint venture between the Quad cities. He has indicated that if the Council holds a joint HRA/Council meeting, <br />Council Members can only be paid for one meeting. <br />TAGG PROPERTY <br />Mr. Wessel explained that the City has generated development momentum in the Village <br />and this has caused some concerns for the Taggs who own the property to the north <br />between the Village and I -35W.
