COUNCIL WORK SESSION JULY 23, 1997
UPDATE MARVY STREET IMPROVEMENTS, DAVE AHRENS
A petition against the proposed Marvy Street improvements had been received. This
petition effectively prevents the Council from making the improvement and assessing the
benefited property owners. The City Council must formally recognize the petition. If the
Council feels that septic problems in this area warrant, an emergency improvement could
be initiated. The costs would be funded by the Area and Unit Fund. This fund would be
repaid as property owners petitioned to connect and were assessed.
Ms. Diane Turner, Sunset Road told the Council of her need for sanitary sewer.
Council discussed the matter further and asked that two (2) questions be researched:
- If sanitary sewer was extended down Marvy Street to Sunset Road cdui
owners connect? The consensus of the Council was that a proper building be
constructed, not a pole barn.
Council discussed financing the building. It was suggested that revenue from antenna
leases be used for the construction. Mr. Ahrens was directed to prepare financial options
for the building.
Page 4
