He contacted the candidates and sent a copy of the City's profile to them.
Mr. Bruhl has a list of 13 candidates who are interested in the position. All but one of the
candidates is from the area. He recommended taking a smaller list from the 13 candidates
and have a series of discussions with the Council. He would like to schedule those
discussions as soon as possible. After the discussions a professional management
assessment should be done. The whole process should be wrapped up within 30 days.
Kim directed each Council Member to read over the list and contact Mr. Bruhl by
Monday, November 9, 1998 and give him a prioritized list of four (4) candidates to
interview. Andy indicated all the candidates should be interviewed. Mr. Bruhl suggested
that each Council Member look over the list first. Salary will be an issue for some of the
candidates. He indicated the City should not have to pay $80,000 to get a candidate from
this pool. The discussions should include the candidates needs, expectations, and the
City's challenges. Mr. Bruhl suggested that each candidate be interviewed for one hour.
Kim asked each Council Member to contact Mr. Bruhl by Monday, November 4, 1998,
with their list of four (4) candidates. If there are only four (4) discussions to be held, they
will take place on Monday, November 16, 1998, 4:30 p.m. If more discussions are
required, they will be held on Saturday, November 14, 1998, 11:00 a.m.
Mr. Bruhl explained that after the interviews are held, the candidates will come to his
office within a day or two (2) for a professional management assessment. He stated he
will then meet with Council Members and give his recommendation on November 23,
