CITY COUNCIL WORK SESSION AUGUST 4,1999 <br />• Council directed the staff liaison to the CAG to attend the August 16, 1999, CAG <br />meeting. Staff will also invite Mr. Reinert to the August 18, 1999, Council work session. <br />• <br />DISCUSS LETTER FROM CITY ADMINISTRATOR TO THE CHARTER <br />COMMISSION, LINDA WAITE SMITH <br />Staff distributed a draft letter that will be sent to Mr. Paul Montain, Chair of the Lino <br />Lakes Charter Commission. The letter is requesting that the Charter Commission review <br />sections 6.04 and 7.01 of the Home Rule Charter and consider whether these sections <br />remain relevant. The letter points out that is seems appropriate that the Treasurer portion <br />of the Clerk -Treasurer position be transferred to the Finance Director position. <br />Council authorized staff to send the letter to Mr. Montain. <br />UPDATE ON CIVIC COMPLEX DEDICATION CEREMONY, LINDA WAITE <br />SMITH <br />The Civic Complex dedication ceremony is scheduled for September 18, 1999. The <br />Centennial School District has offered to send out invitations to the dedication ceremony. <br />They cannot help with any of the funding for this event. <br />Council directed staff to accept the Centennial School District's offer. <br />ORDINANCE REQUIRING THE POLICE DEPARTMENT TO MAKE ALL <br />CITY BANK DEPOSITS <br />Council directed staff to determine if an ordinance requiring the Police Department to <br />deliver the City's deposits can legally be drafted. There is previous Council action <br />requiring the Police Department to deliver City deposits. <br />WEEDS ALONG LAKE DRIVE NEAR THE CIVIC COMPLEX ENTRANCE <br />Council directed Chief Pecchia to make the County Highway Department aware of the <br />tall weeds outside the entrance to the Civic Complex. <br />DISCUSS YEAR 2000 ENGINEERING CONTRACT, LINDA WAITE SMITH <br />Ms. Waite Smith referred to a report sent out in the Council's packets last week. The <br />report contained information regarding the position of City Engineer, financing of the <br />position, and a recommendation regarding the future of the position. <br />Ms. Waite Smith recommended the City continue the engineering contract with TKDA <br />based on the following: <br />41 1. The quality of services from TKDA are already known. <br />
