CITY COUNCIL WORK SESSION FEBRUARY 9, 2000 <br />Mr. George Lindy, Chair of the Park Board, distributed a letter and list of the 2000 Park <br />Board goals. He noted that each year the Park Board sets priorities in relation to the <br />funding that is available from the undesignated Dedicated Fund balance. <br />Mr. Lindy reviewed the goals and possible projects if funds become available. He noted <br />that the main issue is ongoing trail maintenance. He added that a discussion regarding a <br />possible referendum is desired by the Park Board. <br />Staff advised that approximately $100,000 is currently needed to repair all existing trails. <br />Once the trails are fully restored, approximately $10,000 to $15,000 per year will be <br />needed to maintain the City's trail system. <br />The City Engineer added the City would need approximately $20,000 per year for <br />ongoing trail maintenance. <br />Council directed staff to obtain proposals from consultants regardi <br />referendums. Staff will also investigate what the City has don <br />feasibility of a referendum. All connections are looked at equally. At this time, there is no funding to <br />complete any of the trails. <br />Council Member O'Donnell asked if the Park Board is in favor of putting together a <br />referendum package to complete all the trails in that area. Members of the Park Board <br />that were present indicated support for a trail referendum. <br />Council directed staff and the Park Board to work together and prepare a report regarding <br />prioritized future trails and connections to the County Park. <br />Mayor Bergeson called for a short break at 7:35 p.m. <br />Mayor Bergeson reconvened the meeting at 7:44 p.m. <br />6 <br />
