CITY COUNCIL WORK SESSION MARCH 8, 2000 <br />MAYOR'S AWARD PROCESS, DAN TESCH <br />Staff distributed information regarding the Lino Lakes Community Service Award <br />(formerly known as Mayor's Award). The award is designed to recognize individuals <br />who have made a significant contribution(s) to the community. Contributions could <br />come in — but not limited to — the areas of community service, enhancing the environment <br />or quality of life, volunteerism, lifetime service. The Director of Administration will <br />supervise the program. <br />Staff reviewed their recommendations regarding the nomination committee, nominations, <br />the award, and the time line. Staff added that the award should be given yearly and added <br />to the Council's annual appointments. <br />Staff suggested the award this year be presented on September 18, 2000, which is the first <br />anniversary of the new building. <br />This item will be added to the regular Council agenda Monday Mar ; 000, 6:30 p.m. <br />CONSIDER VANDEVEER REQUEST TO SUPPORT <br />IN SCHOOL ZONES, MAYOR BERGESON <br />LIMITS <br />Mayor Bergeson advised he received a phone c an eveer. Mr. Vandeveer is <br />working on a bill that will reduce school zone <1 'ts 5 m.p.h. He has requested <br />Council support regarding this bill. <br />Council Member Carlson noted <br />limit in all school zones. <br />It was the consensu�,o <br />k'• see no more than a 25 m.p.h. speed <br />to a formal action regarding support for the bill. <br />Council directed st are a resolution of support and add it to the Council agenda. <br />This item will appear on the regular Council agenda Monday, March 13, 2000, 6:30 p.m. <br />STAFF ANALYSIS WITH EXAMPLES, COUNCIL MEMBER DAHL <br />Council Member Dahl stated it would be beneficial to include pros and cons on a project <br />in the staff report. She added that staging was not a part of the Highland Meadows <br />project and the new Council Members did not have time to prepare. <br />Council Member Dahl also requested the Environmental Board's packets and agendas be <br />included in the Council Member's packets. <br />Mayor Bergeson suggested Council Members request any additional information on an <br />item at the Council work session. <br />
