• <br />COUNCIL MINUTES APRIL 10, 2000 <br />OPEN MIKE <br />Appreciation Awards Presented by VFW Ladies Auxiliary to the Lino Lakes Police <br />Department, Centennial Fire Department and the North Transportation Paramedics — Ms. <br />Gladys Broker, VFW Ladies Auxiliary, came forward and presented awards for appreciation for all <br />the Fire Department has done for the VFW Ladies Auxiliary in 1999/2000. She noted that Station #1 <br />and Station #3 are receiving awards. <br />Ms. Broker presented an award to the Police Department and thanked them for keeping the City of <br />Lino Lakes safe. <br />Ms. Broker noted the North Transportation Paramedics are receiving an award also. <br />Mr. Milo Bennett, Fire Chief, added the VFW Ladies Auxiliary gives the Fire Department financial <br />support for many of the Department's safety programs. He thanked the Auxiliary for all their help. <br />Mr. Dave Pecchia, Police Chief, also thanked the Auxiliary for all thea and financial help for <br />the bulletproof vests the Department uses. <br />Mayor Bergeson advised he regretfully is accepting Mr. J.P. <br />Board, letter of resignation. He read a statement regard' <br />City Boards and years of service. He thanked hi <br />air of the Environmental <br />s involvement with many <br />and support. <br />Mr. J. P. Houchins, 7280 Forest Stage Co orward and indicated he wanted to present <br />his resignation formally to the Counci '' ,' a as served many years on City Boards and it is <br />time to move on. He wished the n E:.e bers all the best and asked that they treat residents <br />and City staff with respect. <br />No one else was pres <br />ADMINISTRATION TMENT REPORT, DAN TESCH <br />SECOND READING, Ordinance No. 00 — 05, Grant City Administrator/Designee Authority to <br />Investigate the Background of New Employees (3/5 Vote Required), Dan Tesch — Staff advised <br />that in order for the Police Department to conduct a criminal background investigation of job <br />applicants on the City's behalf, an ordinance is required. Ordinance No. 00 — 05 amends the <br />personnel section of the City code in order to conduct criminal background checks. <br />Council Member O'Donnell moved to approve the SECOND READING or Ordinance No. 00 — 05, <br />as presented. Council Member Dahl seconded the motion. <br />Council Member Carlson voted yea. Council Member Dahl voted yea. Council Member O'Donnell <br />voted yea. Council Member Reinert voted yea. Mayor Bergeson voted yea. <br />Motion carried unanimously. <br />
