CITY COUNCIL WORK SESSION JUNE 21, 2000 <br />CITY OF LINO LAKES <br />MINUTES <br />DATE : June 21, 2000 <br />TIME STARTED : 6:50 p.m. <br />TIME ENDED : 9:15 p.m. <br />MEMBERS PRESENT : Council Member Carlson, Dahl, O'Donnell, <br />Reinert, and Mayor Bergeson <br />: None <br />MEMBERS ABSENT <br />Staff members present: City Administrator, Linda Waite Smith; City Engineer, John <br />Powell; Public Services Director, Rick DeGardner; City Planner, Jeff S <br />Community Development Director, Brian Wessel; Chief of Police, Da (part); <br />and CMC City Clerk, Ry-Chel Gaustad (part) <br />NATURAL GAS FRANCHISE INFORMATION, LI TH <br />Staff advised they are in the process of negotiation sco regarding a gas <br />franchise. Mr. Lesnar noted there is going <br />to be deregula tural gas. <br />Mr. James Keina. cle Pines City Administrator, distributed a memo from Chair <br />Lesnar regarding the franchise update. A map was included indicating the areas that they <br />hope the Council will designate to Circle Pines Utilities. The memo outlined information <br />regarding franchise fees, level playing field, public safety, future planning and interim <br />service. Mr. Keinath noted the Utilities Company is in the process of changing their <br />name to Centennial Utilities. <br />Council Member Carlson asked for clarification relating to what the Utilities Company is <br />asking for. <br />Mr. Keinath advised they are hoping the 1997 study would draw the Council to the <br />conclusion of defining areas of service for providers. He referred to the area of the map <br />in blue designating the Circle Pines Utilities portion. <br />1 <br />
