The City Engineer advised a cul-de-sac on the north would result in a 3/4 mile long cul-de-
sac. A cul-de-sac on the south end would result in confusion for drivers. A sign could be
put up indicating it is not a through street. Both placements are equally undesirable. He
stated he is concerned about another long cul-de-sac similar to the one in Colonial
Woods.
Mayor Bergeson stated the cul-de-sac should be put on the south end. The north end
should be constructed so the streets meet. The south end could then be finished when the
road continues through to 62nd Street.
Council Member Reinert inquired about a mechanism that can be put in place to continue
the road in the future.
The City Engineer advised he would ask for Council direction regarding the determining
factor. He added that residents who live on the cul-de-sac will not want the road to
continue through.
Council Member Carlson suggested a trigger mechanism such aertain
number of years.
Council Member Reinert stated that if the funds don' bei e e, 62nd Street can't
be reconstructed. The City Engineer advised 62nd tr ;a ate aid system. The
funds are available now.
Council Member Reinert stated he d
frame based on future developm
e residents will object to a time
Council Member Dahl re residents in Birchwood Acres be invited to the
neighborhood meeting.
HIGHWAY 49 P EFF REINERT
Council Member Re "'ert advised he believes the Council needs to determine what should
happen with the Highway 49 project. Once the Council makes a determination, a
meeting should be held with the two (2) involved Counties and officials from the City of
Shoreview.
Mayor Bergeson suggested a letter should be sent to both Counties requesting they work
together on the project. The City of Shoreview should send a similar letter.
Mr. Jeff Heaser, resident of Lino Lakes, came forward and distributed a copy of Ramsey
County's plan for the highway. He also distributed a copy of the procedure Ramsey
County uses for this resident input regarding these types of issues. He stated the largest
part of the road is 62' from curb to curb. Turn back money is being used for the project.
Mayor Bergeson stated the plan is the same concept as County Road J.
