CITY COUNCIL WORK SESSION JULY 19, 2000 <br />This item will appear on the regular Council agenda Monday, July 24, 2000, 6:30 p.m. <br />TOWN CENTER UPDATE, MARY ALICE DIVINE <br />The Community Development Director came forward and explained the Design <br />Standards being utilized through an ordinance as opposed to a guideline rout. He advised <br />the concern of EDAC is that the ordinance route is too restrictive. The process will be <br />discussed further at the August, 2000, EDAC meeting. <br />Council Member Reinert suggested incorporating both ordinances and guidelines into the <br />Design Standards. <br />The Economic Development Assistant came forward and gave a visual presentation of the <br />Town Center reminding the Council of the original vision of the project. It was noted <br />that many cities have failed at the concept of a Town Center because of the lack of <br />Design Standards. <br />Council Member Carlson asked if the developer that was at the as also <br />developing in Mendota Heights. The dra om the highway is needed. <br />Council Member Carlson noted that she read Lino Lakes is the 9th fastest growing City in <br />the area. <br />The City Planner noted that those figures are calculated as a percentage. <br />COMPREHENSIVE PLAN UPDATE, BRIAN WESSEL <br />Staff advised they have received a series of requests from landowners regarding changes <br />in the land use plan relating to the Comprehensive Plan. Staff distributed a memo <br />regarding their requests and the process staff is pursuing in response to the requests. A <br />4 <br />
