COUNCIL MINUTES DECEMBER 11, 2000 <br />No one was present for open mike. <br />ADMINISTRATION DEPARTMENT REPORT, DAN TESCH <br />Conditional Job Offer to Building Inspector, Dan Tesch — Staff advised when Mr. Tom Jackson <br />gave notice that he would be resigning his position as building inspector II, the City began the process <br />of searching for a replacement. After reviewing and interviewing applicants, staff is recommending <br />an offer of employment be made to Mr. Vern Rylander. Mr. Rylander has worked on a seasonal basis <br />for the City for the past three -(3) years, and has displayed an excellent working knowledge of the <br />Uniform Building Code. Staff recommended Mr. Rylander be started at step 2 of the wage range for <br />building inspector ll. <br />Council Member O'Donnell moved to approve the hiring of Mr. Vern Rylander as building inspector <br />II, as presented. Council Member Dahl seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously. <br />Termination of Public Works Employee, Dan Tesch — Staff recommended termination of <br />employment for a Public Works employee whose attendance record ality have been <br />unacceptable. The background information was reviewed by empRk,. • ey Scott Lepak as <br />well as the employee's union representative. The notice of rec•�� � at �� terminate was sent to <br />the employee by certified mail on December 5, 2000, and ad e was entitled to a per - <br />termination hearing with the City Council. Motion carried unanimously. <br />Consideration of Hiri ' e eral Maintenance Worker — Streets Department, Dan Tesch — Staff <br />advised that with appro of the above item, they are recommending that Mr. Jim Blackbird be <br />considered for the vacant General Maintenance -Streets position. Mr. Blackbird began his <br />employment with the City of Lino Lakes on April 17, 2000. He has shown a tremendous work ethic <br />and is capable of performing a variety of tasks. Mr. Blackbird's past work experiences have included <br />operating light and heavy equipment, paving, parching, seal coating, and dirt work. Also, he has <br />demonstrated his competency in welding, equipment repair, construction, and landscaping. <br />Mr. Blackbird is available to begin Tuesday, December 12, 2000. Mr. Blackbird's beginning salary is <br />$15.93 per hour plus benefits. This position will be eligible for membership in the 49'ers Union. A <br />physical examination and drug test will be required prior to Mr. Blackbird's becoming a full time <br />employee. <br />2 <br />
