COUNCIL MINUTES DECEMBER 11, 2000 <br />Council Member Reinert moved to approve the hiring of Mr. Jim Blackbird as General Maintenance - <br />Streets Employee, contingent upon successful completion of drug test and physical examination. <br />Council Member Dahl seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously. <br />FINANCE DEPARTMENT REPORT, AL ROLEK <br />Consider Resolution No. 00 —122, Adopting the 2001 Tax Levy, Al Rolek — Staff advised Truth in <br />Taxation required the City of Lino Lakes to adopt and certify a final 2000 tax levy, collectable in <br />2001 on or before December 28th of each year. <br />The total levy includes dollars for the general operating budget as well as dollars for general bonded <br />debt. The final levy for general purposes has been reduced from the amount approved in the proposed <br />levy. This reduction results in a tax rate for 2001 that is the same as in 2000. <br />A Truth in Taxation public hearing was held on the tax levy on December 4, 2000, and continued to <br />December 11, 2000. Council Member <br />nanimously. <br />ound in the City Clerk's office. <br />Consider Resolution 0123, Adopting the 2001 Budget, Al Rolek — Staff advised Truth in <br />Taxation requires the Ci of Lino Lakes adopt and certify a final 2001 operating budget on or before <br />December 28th of each year. <br />A Truth in Taxation public hearing was held on the budget on December 4, 2000, and continued to <br />December 11, 2000. A summary of the proposed budget was presented and discussed during the <br />public hearing and public testimony was received. <br />The final 2001 budget represents a 8.70% increase over the 2000 budget. The City experienced <br />growth of 13.06% with no increase in the City tax rate, over the same period. <br />The City Council needs to take final action on the budget at this time. Staff recommended Council <br />adopt Resolution No. 00 — 123, approving the final 2001 General Fund Operating Budget. <br />
