CITY COUNCIL WORK SESSION JANUARY 3, 2001 <br />Council Member Carlson inquired about future plans to extend 62nd Street to County <br />Road J. Staff advised an extension to County Road J would be a future extension that <br />would occur as development in the area occurs. Staff noted that the proposed roadway <br />connection would eliminate the long cul-de-sac within Colonial Woods. <br />Council Member Dahl asked if 62nd Street would become a top priority for <br />reconstruction. Staff advised it is possible that 62nd Street would become a top priority <br />and be reconstructed within the next two -(2) years. The roadway would be reconstructed <br />when West Shadow Ponds is connected. State Aid Funds would be used to reconstruct <br />62nd Street. <br />Mayor Bergeson asked if 62nd Street would require more than one year of State Aid <br />Funds. Staff advised the reconstruction of 62nd Street would probably use three (3) years <br />of State Aid Funding. The City can borrow ahead from the funds. Staff noted the City <br />has accumulated some funds coming into this year. <br />Mayor Bergeson inquired about the construction schedule. <br />Mr. Rick Carlson, developer for the project, came forw <br />90 more days to complete the wetland delineation. <br />out. <br />Ms. Rosemary Williams, 498 62n° Str <br />for the City to extend 62nd Street <br />traffic lights. The area is very congested and can't handle more <br />traffic. She stated the residents on Ware Road should have been notified about the <br />meeting also. <br />The City Planner stated the City Council has the right to rezone and subdivide property. <br />The project would require plat approval, allocation of MUSA and a rezone. <br />Council Member O'Donnell inquired about the timeline regarding those issues. The City <br />Planner advised the reason the City is focusing on the roadway at this time is because it is <br />the primary concern for the City and residents. The project can not move forward without <br />an agreement on the roadway. <br />Council Member Carlson stated the project had 15 lots when it went through the Planning <br />and Zoning Board. She asked if it will go before the Planning and Zoning Board again. <br />
