Powell - .; _� a ointing out the West <br />Shadow Ponds subdivision and neighboring s o =ns. a key issue is the <br />continuation of the roadway to 62nd Stre _ roadway will be connected. Staff <br />distributed a letter from Tom and Jan ?3 indicated they are in favor of West <br />Shadow Lake Drive being exten' , ni et being improved. <br />Mayor Bergeson noted ± ber Reinert is absent this evening. Council Member <br />Reinert will view the vi an. ear all public comments. <br />Mr. Jim Kohl, 520 a Road, came forward and stated he has been asked by the <br />neighbors on Hawth a Road to speak. He stated the group he represents is not here to <br />oppose the development, but to oppose the barricade that will prohibit traffic going <br />through to 62nd Street. He stated Hawthorne Road is a local road and the traffic flow <br />currently goes down Hawthorne creating too many traffic and safety issues. He stated the <br />group supports the connection to 62nd Street to alleviate the traffic on Hawthorne. He <br />stated there are 54 homes and 107 children on Hawthorne. He stated the group does not <br />think it makes sense to put a cul-de-sac in. Residents are afraid that if a connection is not <br />made, the traffic will increase. He entered into the record a petition signed by 107 <br />residents who are in favor of the connection. He stated he knows there are dollars to <br />upgrade 62nd Street. There are also other reasons to make the connection including access <br />for safety vehicles and avoiding a very long cul-de-sac. He stated there is equal if not <br />greater support to connect the roadway to 62nd Street. <br />Mr. Barry Rice, 662 Fox Road, came forward and stated he sent a letter to the City <br />Council indicating his full support for the connection of the roadway due to traffic <br />1 <br />
