CITY COUNCIL WORK SESSION APRIL 4, 2001 <br />• Mayor Bergeson stated that may be used as a bargaining tool in future negotiations. <br />UPDATE ON CSAH 49 <br />City Engineer Powell distributed a memo regarding the Request for Special Legislation to <br />Lower CSAH 49 Speed Limit. The memo indicated a discussion was held with Mr. Chris <br />Runquist in Jane Kentz's office to find out what happened to the request the City hand - <br />delivered to her office on March 27. <br />Mr. Runquist indicated that he contacted Mr. Frank Pafko of MnDOT immediately after <br />receiving the City letter. Mr. Pafko told Mr. Runquist that MnDOT staff mistakenly <br />interpreted the City's letter and resolution as a request for a speed study. By the time they <br />realized their mistake, the study was underway. The study has since been completed and <br />City staff has the results. <br />Ms. Krenzt decided there wasn't adequate time to proceed with •eci•' gislation this <br />year. Instead, her office is working with Mr. Robert Brown • .. City Engineer Powell advised he has not spoke with Mr. Olson since receiving the <br />letter. <br />Council Member Reinert suggested the City inquire about what type of road would be <br />constructed if a 45 -mph speed limit is obtained. City Engineer Powell advised the <br />roadway would be three (3) lanes with wide shoulders and a shared center lane, possibly <br />with some medians. A speed limit of 45 would allow Anoka County to construct the <br />same type of roadway as Ramsey County. <br />Council Member Carlson asked why there would be medians north of Birch Street to <br />Lake Drive. City Engineer Powell advised there are not driveways north of Birch Street. <br />
