COUNCIL MINUTES JUNE 11, 2001 <br />Council Member O'Donnell moved to approve request to submit application for COPS in School <br />Grant, as presented. Council Member Reinert seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously. <br />PUBLIC SERVICES DEPARTMENT REPORT, RICK DEGARDNER <br />There was no Public Services Department report. <br />COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT REPORT <br />PUBLIC HEARING — Comprehensive Land Use Plan — Mayor Bergeson read a statement of the <br />City Council regarding the Comprehensive Land Use Plan. <br />The City Planner Smyser gave a brief summary of the Comprehensive Land Use Plan. He stated the <br />residential growth where there was low densities would stay that way. He stated he and the other residents of Arena <br />Acres had special concerns relative to development in their neighborhood. He indicated the only place that did not have construction was to the north. He <br />stated this type of construction did not leave much confidence for the citizens. He stated it did not <br />seem as if anyone was listening to the citizens and asked if the Council was proud of that. He <br />indicated it was the rural characteristic of Lino Lakes that drew him and his family to the area. He <br />stated the City had failed miserably in maintaining that rural characteristic. He asked the City to do <br />something responsible with this Plan. He asked the City to slow down the growth and sprawl. <br />• <br />• <br />
