CITY COUNCIL WORK SESSION NOVEMBER 21, 2001 <br />addendum was added to the October 29 meeting summary relating to the resident's <br />concerns and unhappiness with the road plan. <br />City Engineer Powell stated the plan is to bring a road design to the Council work session <br />on December 5, 2001. He stated he believes the County has compromised on some issues <br />and the speed study that was done did indicate the speed limit should be raised. A <br />context sensitive design is the tool to use to get the speed limit lowered to 45 mph. <br />Another neighborhood meeting will be held Monday, November 26, 2001. <br />Community Development Director Grochala advised he was present at the meeting. <br />Some of the citizens that are involved are unhappy and don't fee r concerns are being <br />heard. Residents seem to be more interested in a temporary fix fo K«:: ad. If the City <br />does nothing the roadway will still have a 50 -mph speed limit. . temp fix is done <br />the speed limit will be 50 mph and the City will have to acquire e ri_ of --way. It sounds like there was nothing brought to the meeting by <br />residents that made a difference. Residents were willing to make changes. The problem <br />is the four -lane highway and that is what the residents thought the meeting was about. He <br />passed out a copy of what residents want for the roadway. He stated it is ridiculous for <br />people to lose their land for a four -lane highway that goes nowhere. The majority of <br />residents who attended the meetings are opposed to a four -lane highway and the meeting <br />4 <br />
