SPECIAL COUNCIL WORK SESSION JANUARY 30, 2002 <br />Mayor Bergeson stated the consultants need to determine if the information is too <br />confusing to conduct a phone survey. <br />Councilmember Carlson stated she feels the City should move ahead with the <br />referendum. However, she stated she does feel people would understand if the City chose <br />not to pursue the referendum at this time if polling shows little support due to the budget <br />concerns. <br />Councilmember Reinert stated he feels now is a good time to pursue the referendum. The <br />survey is a good idea depending on the cost of it and if there is time. If there is not <br />enough time to do a survey the referendum should be brought to `= .: oters this spring. <br />Public Services Director DeGardner stated residents have been irtolved the <br />referendum throughout the whole process. He stated he is conce . abo e amount of <br />information that needs to be understood for a citizen to m the <br />referendum. The City can provide that information to res' ants v ' the next few months. <br />The City is now at the point that the referendum shoul b ght w the voters or <br />delayed due to the budget concerns. <br />City Administrator Waite Smith noted the referen�` i?� t could include some capital <br />items but it cannot include operational costs. <br />Public Services Director DeGardner stat <br />of $100,000 for equipment.
