The goals will be presented to <br />the Council at a future meeting. <br />Councilmember Carlson referred to pages 26 and 27 regarding the crime index rate. She stated the <br />City is the second lowest in comparison with the other cities. She stated that information should go <br />out in the newsletter or in the Quad Press. <br />Chief Pecchia stated the information regarding the crime index rate can go out in the next newsletter. <br />The copy of the report is also available in the citizen's library for residents to review. <br />Councilmember Reinert moved to accept the Department of Public Safety 2001 Annual Report, as <br />presented. Councilmember Dahl seconded the motion. ' T, RICK DEGARDNER <br />ter, <br />Consideration of Resolution No. 02 ; , A s o ing Special Election for Recreation Complex, <br />Neighborhood Park Improvements ra'- s Referendum, Rick DeGardner — Public Services <br />Director DeGardner advised at the 0 R 2, Park Board meeting, the Park Board members <br />unanimously recommended to th � cil that an $8.6 million referendum be placed on the <br />ballot for a special vote ..Saturday, 27, 2002, for the development of the recreation complex, <br />neighborhood park impro <br />The proposal is based on m years of planning and citizen input on how the City can best meet the <br />recreation and leisure needs an desires of the community. Many Lino Lakes residents have <br />expressed a desire for recreation facilities comparable to those in other communities. <br />In March of 1997, the City Council unanimously passed a resolution supporting the Park Board's <br />recommendation to pursue a referendum to enhance the leisure opportunities for residents such as <br />trails, neighborhood parks and development of a recreation complex. <br />In November 2001, after months of discussion, the City Council authorized staff to move forward <br />with a spring referendum. A "Referendum 2002" committee was formed and has met regularly over <br />the past several months. The content of the proposed referendum is a result of a lot of research, <br />discussion, and effort by City staff, the "Referendum 2002" Committee, and members of the Park <br />Board. <br />
