City Engineer Studenski stated the site currently drains to <br />the existing pond and to the larger portion of the adjacent site. He indicated this situation is being <br />addressed and noted the storm water pipe across Apollo Drive will allow the drainage to be contained <br />on site. <br />Councilmember Carlson questioned whether this situation will make the adjacent parcel less <br />marketable. City Engineer Studenski did not believe this would be the case. <br />Councilmember Carlson noted the Environmental Board had recommended a number of conditions <br />and it was difficult to determine whether they had been thorouaddressed. He stated these types of businesses are not unusual in a business <br />park and indicated this was the r: son the City's fire code addresses hazardous materials. <br />Councilmember Carlson noted, in his memorandum, the City Fire Chief indicated two businesses <br />whose buildings were designed to handle hazardous materials. She questioned whether the proposed <br />building has been properly designed for the purpose intended. <br />City Planner Smyser noted further on in this memorandum the City Fire Chief discusses the annual <br />inspections by the Fire Department, during which the Department looks for any changes in the <br />contents of a building that may violate codes, such as a building that is storing or using hazardous <br />materials but was not designed for that purpose. <br />Councilmember Carlson stated she was willing to support this use in this building if City staff and the <br />City Fire Chief felt the use was appropriate.
