COUNCIL MINUTES AUGUST 12, 2002 <br />Mr. Peterson noted City staff's presentation had indicated that the subject site is surrounded by <br />residentially zoned property and he questioned why a convenience store would be located in the <br />middle of a residential area. He indicted that all the residents who moved into this area were aware <br />that they would have to travel some distance to reach a store. <br />Mr. Peterson indicted the residents of this area had been assured by the developer one and one-half <br />years ago that there would be no gas station in this development. He felt a better use of this property <br />would be the construction of town homes to the front of the property and, if a gas station is needed, it <br />should be located at the corner of Hodgson Road and Birch Street. <br />Leslie Ridley stated she was aware that this site would be developed with commercial businesses, <br />however, it was her understanding that the access would be off Birch Street. She indicated she has <br />children who play near Ware Road and she was concerned for their safety. <br />Mr. Jerold, a resident of Spirit Hills development, expressed con <br />this area who walk and ride bicycles in this area. He stated that <br />traffic and noted the day care will have additional traffic wit <br />their children. He indicated the intersection of Ware Road <br />p.m. and he believed this development would make this <br />the gas station at the intersection of County Road J <br />felt this development would be the same. He stated he was also <br />concerned for the possible contamination of the wells in the area. <br />Marty Boeckman stated he lives less than one-half mile from this subject site and he agreed with the <br />comments made this evening.
