COUNCIL MINUTES SEPTEMBER 23, 2002 <br />provided for special events. He reviewed the rest of the draft joint powers agreement and Exhibit A <br />which addresses distribution of funds. He noted that the actual dollar amount will change; however, <br />the same percentages will be used to determine distribution. Mr. Johnson advised that the JLEC and <br />Fire Department Council have both recommended the Council approve this joint powers agreement. <br />Mayor Bergeson asked if this requires new towers. Mr. Johnson stated they anticipate some new <br />towers will be needed but the exact placement will need to be determined. <br />Mayor Bergeson inquired regarding the timetable. Mr. Johnson stated engineering has started and he <br />anticipates the system will be in place within two years. <br />Councilmember O'Donnell moved to approve the Joint Powers Agreement with Anoka County Joint <br />Law Enforcement Council for Public Safety digital radio communications system. Councilmember <br />Dahl seconded the motion. <br />Motion carried unanimously. <br />Consider Centennial Fire Items: <br />1. Consider Accepting Donation for Safety Cam 're Chief Bennett — Fire Chief Bennett <br />explained that the fee to attend the Safety Camp do of co er the cost so the rest of the expenses are <br />funded through donations. He advised that threedonations have been received as follows: $1,500 <br />from the Centennial Fire Fighters Charitable Gain und; $1,500 from the Lexington Fire <br />Fighters Charitable Gambling Fund; and, $1, ' , om the Ladies Auxiliary Charitable Gambling Fund. <br />Councilmember Dahl moved to accept c patio for the Fire Safety Camp as outlined by staff. <br />Councilmember Reinert seconded th <br />Motion carried unanimousl <br />2. Consider Resolution r 2 : ' ro ' amation for Fire Prevention Week, Fire Chief Bennett <br />— Fire Chief Bennett advised th October 6-12 is Fire Prevention Week and requested the City <br />Council adopt a resolution in sup: ort of that event. He stated the Fire Department spends the entire <br />month of October to focus on fire prevention including visits to five elementary schools. <br />Mayor Bergeson reviewed a proclamation declaring the week of October 6-12, 2002 as Fire <br />Prevention Week in the City of Lino Lakes. <br />Councilmember Reinert moved to adopt Resolution 02-128, Proclamation Declaring October 6-12, <br />2002, as Fire Prevention Week.
