She asked if the City has a safe place to
store the documents.
City Administrator Waite Smith advised the City does have a file for the historic
documents. The City Clerk has already started a file for historic documents and she is
continuing to work on this project. The historic documents are very timely because this
issue will be addressed in the next Mayor's letter in the newsletter.
Mayor Bergeson suggested the City invite Mr. Hawkins to a Council meeting to present
the documents.
Councilmember Carlson advised she will contact Mr. Hawkins about presenting the
documents to the Council.
REQUEST FOR OCTOBER 14, 2002 COUNCIL MEETING VIDEO PORTION
ON EAGLE BROOK CHURCH, COUNCILMEMBER CARLSON
Councilmember Carlson advised she has requested a copy of the video tape from the
October 14, 2002, City Council meeting on numerous occasions. To date she has not
received a copy of the video tape.
City Administrator Waite Smith advised she has discussed this issue with the City Clerk.
The City Clerk did make an audio tape and sent an e-mail to ask if that was sufficient.
The City Clerk did not realize the tape still needed to be copied. The minute taker did do
additional work on that section of the video tape. A verbatim transcript would have cost
$550, which is very expensive. Staff is concerned because making a copy of the tape is
costly and there is the possibility of not getting the tape back. She stated Councilmember
Carlson can pay to have the tape copied or Councilmember Dahl can make a copy if the
City will get the tape back.
Councilmember Carlson stated she wants a copy of the tape because Councilmember
Dahl was told the church had their lawyer present at the meeting. She stated she is
concerned about legal action.
City Administrator Waite Smith advised Councilmember Dahl can take the tape and
make a copy but the City needs the tape back the same day. She asked Councilmember
Dahl to let staff know when she wants the tape.
DRAFT LETTER OF RECOMMENDATION FOR NATALIE HAAS STEFFEN,
LINDA WAITE SMITH
City Administrator Waite Smith advised a draft letter of recommendation for Ms. Natalie
Haas Steffen for reappointment to the Metropolitan Council was sent to the Council.
