CITY COUNCIL WORK SESSION SEPTEMBER 8, 2004 <br />APPROVED <br />• 1 Mayor Bergeson suggested staff provide a yearly update to the Charter Commission <br />2 regarding their budget and funds. <br />3 <br />4 Councilmember Carlson requested a copy of the state statute regarding what the City <br />5 must provide in funds to the Charter Commission. She suggested line item "Blue Heron <br />6 Days Contribution" be changed to line item "Community Celebration Contribution" <br />7 within the budget. <br />8 <br />9 Councilmember Reinert, Councilmember Stoltz and Mayor Bergeson requested the <br />10 additional $145,000 for street maintenance be included in the budget. Staff was directed <br />11 to provide new figures based on that addition in the Friday update. <br />12 <br />13 Mayor Bergeson suggested the amount be put in the budget without separating funds for <br />14 sealcoating and overlays. <br />15 <br />16 The proposed 2005 General Operating Budget, Preliminary 2004/2005 Property Tax and <br />17 Setting Truth -in -Taxation Hearing will appear on the regular Council agenda Monday, <br />18 September 13, 2005, 6:30 p.m. <br />19 <br />20 PURCHASE AGREEMENT FOR EDA PROPERTY — NE CORNER OF LAKE <br />21 DRIVE & HODGSON ROAD — MARY DIVINE <br />22 <br />. 23 Economic Development Assistant Divine reminded the Council of the 6:00 p.m. EDA <br />24 meeting before the regular City Council meeting on September 27 to consider the sale of <br />25 EDA owned property on the northeast corner of Lake Drive and Hodgson Road. This <br />26 parcel is approximately four acres and is zoned General Business. <br />27 <br />28 Economic Development Assistant Divine stated RUD Surveyors, currently located in <br />29 Lexington, are interested in purchasing the parcel for the purpose of relocating their <br />30 offices to the site. An appraisal was completed and RUD has made an offer to buy the <br />31 property for $300,000, with the City splitting the cost of burying the power line that runs <br />32 across the site. <br />33 <br />34 Economic Development Assistant Divine advised when the EDA sells property, a public <br />35 hearing is required. A resolution will then be considered that authorizes staff and the City <br />36 Attorney to enter into a purchase agreement. <br />37 <br />38 REQUEST FOR POLICING SERVICES — GORDON HEITKE <br />39 <br />40 City Administrator Heitke stated at the August 11, 2004 Council Special Work Session, <br />41 Council informed staff that they would be willing to provide policing services to other <br />42 communities through a contractual arrangement. <br />43 <br />44 City Administrator Heitke advised since that time, the City of Centerville has requested a <br />45 proposal from the City of Lino Lakes to provide policing services through a contract. <br />46 Staff is currently preparing this requested proposal for Lino Lakes City Council <br />47 consideration and City of Centerville Consideration. <br />
