COUNCIL MINUTES January 24, 2005 <br />APPROVED <br />97 Mr. Wagner stated they are looking at adding a softball tournament, and having it State -sanctioned to <br />• <br />98 generate more interest. He indicated they also are considering a golf tournament on Friday. He stated <br />99 they are very happy with the attendance last year. He added they will be working with the Police <br />100 Department on the parade, with the route being the same as in 2004. <br />101 <br />102 Mr. Anderson stated the hope is to get word out sooner so more businesses can get involved that were <br />103 unable to because of short notice last year. <br />104 <br />105 Councilmember Reinert commended the group on the great job they did last year. <br />106 <br />107 Councilmember Carlson noted they may want to avoid having the event the same weekend as St. <br />108 Genevieve's Church in Centerville has their festival. Mr. Wagner stated that if they go any later in <br />109 the month, they get into the State Fair weekends, which conflicts for those participating in the car <br />110 shows, etc. <br />111 <br />112 City Clerk Blair noted that for the 5K run, the organizers had wanted the high school students to be <br />113 eligible, under the State High School League rules. A late August festival allows for this. <br />114 <br />115 Councilmember Reinert moved to adopt Resolution No. 05-04 expressing support for the Blue Heron <br />116 Days Parade and Festival.
