The Board is requesting the City Council accept their
goals for 2005. At their December meeting, the Board adopted the goals.

Mr. Rod Kukonen, Chairman of the Environmental Board, presented their 2005 goals.
He referred to the goal regarding pursing the possibility of Lino Lakes becoming certified
as a community wildlife habitat through the National Wildlife Federation. He explained
the point system, noting it is based on population. The City needs 100 homes certified as
a backyard habitat. The challenge with that is the cost to be certified. The Environmental
Board will actively be pursuing this goal in 2005.

Council requested copies of the information from the National Wildlife Federation web
site.

This item will appear on the regular Council agenda Monday, February 14, 2005, 6:30
p.m.

WALL MURAL, POLICE DEPARTMENT

City Administrator Heitke advised the Police Department has proposed painting a mural
on the lobby wall, outside the Police Department. Members of the Police Department are
present to provide a more detailed explanation of what they envision and how the mural
would be painted. Since there are guidelines in place for the building, which address
appearance issues and reference "a great deal of planning has been incorporated into the
architecture and interior design", it is apparent there have been past discussions regarding
building appearance. For that reason, staff would like Council feedback on the proposed
mural.
