•
•
•
CITY COUNCIL WORK SESSION FEBRUARY 23, 2005
APPROVED

Mr. Fischer noted a joint powers agreement would also be brought before the City
Council at some point in the future. The MOU is not binding, but gives the County the
confidence to move forward with the project.

Mr. Dvorak advised the tentative schedule includes work on the project to begin in the
spring of 2006.

WELL NO. 5 PUMPHOUSE DESIGN, JIM STUDENSKI

City Engineer Studenski stated in a follow-up to the last Council work session, staff
wants to run through different pumphouse structures with the Council to make sure the
overall design is in accordance with their concerns. The recommended size of the
building is 20 feet by 22 feet with a brick and block exterior. This layout is sized just for
the mechanics of the well and will not provide any additional storage within the building.

City Engineer Studenski advised as with all well projects, the well drilling and
pumphouse structure would be bid as two separate items. This allows the project to keep
moving forward while the structure is under design. The results of the well drilling are
then incorporated into the final design details prior to it being bid.

Mr. Kevin Anderson, TKDA, distributed and reviewed various options for pumphouse
structures.

City Engineer Studenski stated staff would like feedback from the Council on possible
designs. Staff will then bring back additional drawings that include landscape concepts
and cost estimates.

The Council agreed on the look of Option 2 and Option 3C with the understanding that
additional drawings would be reviewed at the next Council work session.

City Engineer Studenski advised staff is asking for Council authorization of
advertisement for bids for well construction of Well No. 5 at the regular Council meeting
Monday. The total estimated project cost for the well design and construction is
$210,000. The City proposes to use Trunk Area & Unit funds for all costs of this
improvement.

Authorizing Advertisement for Bids for Well Construction of Well No. 5 will appear on
the regular Council agenda Monday, February 28, 2005, 6:30 p.m.

CODE UPDATE, SECTION 500, GORDON HEITKE

City Administrator Heitke advised Section 500 of the City Code was previously
distributed for Council review. He noted there are very few changes to this section. The
sections regarding dogs and farm animals has been removed and is currently being
revised.
