CITY COUNCIL WORK SESSION MAY 4, 2005 <br />APPROVED <br />• 1 City Engineer Studenski distributed a 2007 Street Reconstruction schedule with Election <br />2 for the Shenandoah and West Shadow Lake Drive reconstruction projects. <br />3 <br />4 Councilmember Carlson referred to Chapter 8 of the Pavement Management Policies <br />5 regarding special assessments and asked for clarification from the City Attorney. <br />6 <br />7 This item will appear on the regular Council agenda Monday, May 9, 2005, 6:30 p.m. <br />8 <br />9 Mayor Bergeson returned to the discussion for the remaining agenda items. <br />10 <br />11 LOIS LANE UTILITY EXTENSION REQUEST, JIM STUDENSKI <br />12 <br />13 City Engineer Studenski advised the City received a petition from Tim Anderson <br />14 requesting the extension of City utilities to his property and stating his neighbor to the <br />15 west is also interested. <br />16 <br />17 City Engineer Studenski stated the Mar Don Acres area has had previous interest in <br />18 extending City utilities along Lois Lane. Several neighborhood meetings were held <br />19 without consensus of the residents. In 2003, the Hailey Manor Subdivision project (east <br />20 end of Mar Don Acres) was approved and MUSA was allocated to this area. A <br />21 neighborhood meeting was held on December 15, 2003 in a follow up to a petition <br />22 received from five residents west of Hailey Manor. The attendees were curious about the <br />23 utility extension, but did not want to pursue the utility extension any further. <br />• 24 <br />25 City Engineer Studenski advised staff is requesting Council direction as to the next step <br />26 that staff should take in response to the utility extension. He noted a study for the utility <br />27 project would cost approximately $2,000.00. <br />28 <br />29 Council directed staff to obtain an estimate of cost to order the feasibility study. The <br />30 Council should then accept the petition and would have to pass a resolution to order the <br />31 feasibility study if the project moves forward. <br />32 <br />33 This item will appear on the Council work session agenda Wednesday, May 18, 2005, <br />34 5:30 p.m. <br />35 <br />36 PAVEMENT MANAGEMENT PROGRAM, JIM STUDENSKI <br />37 <br />38 City Engineer Studenski advised at the November 17, 2004 Council work session, staff <br />39 presented the Pavement Management Report (PMR) dated November 16, 2004 to the <br />40 City Council. At the March 9, 2005 work session, staff presented the Pavement <br />41 Management Financing Report. On April 6 and April 20, 2005, the Pavement <br />42 Management Policies were presented to the Council. <br />43 <br />44 City Engineer Studenski stated it was requested at the April 20, 2005 meeting that the <br />45 PMR and Pavement Management Financing Report be accepted by the Council. It was <br />46 also requested at the April 20, 2005 meeting that the Council adopt the Pavement <br />• 47 Management Policies. <br />48 <br />
