She advised the City is the closest it
has ever been to market value. The State of Minnesota does require homes be at 95% to
105% of market value.
Ms. Weiner also handed out a list of properties that were sold last year noting there were
almost 500 sales. She included a list of homes that were on the market within the City as
of this morning.
Ms. Weiner stated the biggest change in Lino Lakes is typically land values. There was
an average of 8-10% increase in structures. She provided an example of how evaluations
are done. She also stated she believes the school district levy that passed resulted in the
large increase in Lino Lakes. She noted commercial land values in Lino Lakes were also
adjusted.
Ms. Weiner advised the cause of the large increase in market valuations occurred due to
the combination of correcting values, the school district levy and market trends.
GATEWAY SIGN CONCEPTS
Economic Development Coordinator Divine presented gateway sign options as well as
pricing for each of the three options. She noted no dollars have been budgeted for the
gateway sign this year. She asked the Council to keep in mind the approximate cost of
$35,000 for a gateway sign during the next budget process.
1
