CITY COUNCIL WORK SESSION January 3, 2007 <br />APPROVED <br />4045 TEMPORARY SIGNS, SPIRIT HILLS <br />46 <br />47 This agenda item was requested by Mayor Bergeson and Council Member Stoltz. The mayor <br />48 received a request from business people in the area of the Spirit Hills Mall for permission to <br />49 place a temporary directional sign on the Apitz property because of an immediate issue in that <br />50 area. The bigger issue is the need to look at the city's current regulations regarding directional <br />51 signs as a public information tool. <br />52 <br />53 Regarding the request of the Spirit Hills businesses for authorization to place a temporary <br />54 directional sign with the design subject to staff review, the council was informed by staff that an <br />55 amendment to the current city ordinance would be required to allow for such an exception. The <br />56 council referred the subject matter of the temporary sign to staff for a report back. <br />57 <br />58 REVIEW REGULAR AGENDA ITEMS <br />59 <br />60 Item 2A, Policy for Setting Charge Rates for Personnel Services: The council clarified that <br />61 special circumstances will be considered by the council. <br />62 <br />63 There were no changes to the regular Council agenda. <br />64 <br />65 CHARTER COMMISSION CORRESPONDENCE <br />66 <br />•67 City Administrator Heitke explained that a request was just received from the Lino Lakes <br />68 Charter Commission for city staff to attend the commission's January 11 meeting regarding the <br />69 subject of road reconstruction. The council reacted positively to the suggestion of a discussion <br />70 with the Commission and indicated interest in what a discussion process could look like, with <br />71 concern for authority boundaries. Staff was directed to return to the council with an outline for <br />72 such a process.
