Council Member
Carlson seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously.
Resolution No. 07-169, Accepting Quotes and Authorizing Contracts for the Sandhill Drive
Storm Sewer Repair — Engineer Studenski explained that a deteriorated storm sewer pipe was
discovered on Sandhill Drive during regular street maintenance work. The collapsed pipe needs to be
replaced and the city received quotes on the cost of the project. Glenn Rehbein Excavating, Inc.
submitted the lowest quote and staff is therefore requesting authorization to enter a contract with that
company for the necessary work.
Regarding concern from area residents about how the area will be left when the work is completed,
Engineer Studenski explained that curb and gutter will be replaced and seeding will be used to restore
the boulevard. Additionally there will be some rock fill where needed. The trees will not be replaced
as they may have been a part of the deterioration problem. The tree removal was done by the Public
Works Department to save money — the stump removal will be a part of this contract and will result in
removal to off-site. He noted that the trees shouldn't have been allowed to grow as large as they did.
Council Member Stoltz moved to approve Resolution No. 07-169 as presented. Council Member
Reinert seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously.
Resolution No. 07-170, Approving Change Order No. 6 to the Lake Drive/I-35W Improvement
Project — Director Grochala reviewed the current status of the Lake Drive/I-35W Improvement
Project. This change order relates to the installation of traffic signals. The conduit in place was
found to be inadequate and the project engineer made the determination that a new conduit would be
needed. The change order accomplishes that element.
Council Member O'Donnell moved to approve Resolution No. 07-170 as presented. Council
Member Carlson seconded the motion.
