COUNCIL MINUTES August 25, 2008 <br />APPROVED <br />FINANCE DEPARTMENT REPORT, AL ROLEK <br />43 2A. Accept donation from Lexington Firefighters Relief Association for Safety Camp — <br />44 Administration Director reported that the Lexington Firefighters Relief Association has <br />45 generously donated $2,000 to Centennial Fire District for costs associated with the annual Safety <br />46 Camp. The city is required to accept and can then pass on funds to the Fire District. <br />47 <br />48 Council Member Stoltz moved to accept the donation from Lexington Firefighters Relief <br />49 Association with thanks. Council Member O'Donnell seconded the motion. Motion carried on a <br />50 voice vote. <br />51 <br />52 2B. Accept donation from Lino Lakes Lions Club for Safety Camp Costs - <br />53 Administration Director reported that the Lino Lakes Lions Club has generously donated $2,000 <br />54 to Centennial Fire District for costs associated with the annual Safety Camp. The city is required <br />55 to accept and can then pass on funds to the Fire District. <br />56 <br />57 Council Member Stoltz moved to accept the donation from the Lino Lakes Lions Club with <br />58 thanks. Council member Reinert seconded the motion. Motion carried on a voice vote. <br />59 <br />60 ADMINISTRATION DEPARTMENT REPORT, DAN TESCH <br />61 3A. Consider conditional offer of employment to Joel Martin - Administration Director <br />Tesch reported that there is an opening for a police officer and staff is recommending that the <br />.662 <br />3 position be offered to former Lino Lakes officer Joel Martin, contingent upon a successful <br />64 background investigation. <br />65 <br />66 Council Member O'Donnell moved to approve the offer of employment as presented. Council <br />67 Member Gallup seconded the motion. Motion carried. <br />68 <br />69 3B. Consider First Reading of Ordinance No. 12-08 relating to Criminal History <br />70 Background for applicants for city employment and city licenses - Administration Director <br />71 Dan Tesch explained that if the Lino Lakes Police Department is to continue to utilize the state <br />72 Bureau of Criminal Apprehension data base for background checks, certain authorization and <br />73 language must be included in the city's code. Staff is presenting an ordinance that would add the <br />74 required language. <br />75 <br />76 Council Member Reinert moved to dispense with full reading of the ordinance. Council Member <br />77 O'Donnell seconded the motion. Motion carried on a voice vote. <br />78 <br />79 Council Member Reinert moved to approve the 1St reading of Ordinance No. 12-08 as presented. <br />80 Council Member Stoltz seconded the motion.
