CITY COUNCIL <br />AGENDA ITEM 6A <br />STAFF ORIGINATOR: Michael Grochala <br />MEETING DATE: March 23, 2015 <br />TOPIC: Consider Resolution No. 15-29, Authorizing <br />Preparation of Plans and Specifications, Aqua Lane <br />Trunk Water Main Improvements <br />VOTE REQUIRED: Simple Majority <br />INTRODUCTION <br />Staff is requesting council authorization to prepare plans and specifications for the Aqua Lane <br />Trunk Water Main Improvements <br />BACKGROUND <br />The 2030 Comprehensive Plan identifies trunk water main improvements to strengthen the City's <br />municipal water system. The proposed Aqua Lane Trunk Water Main project will extend the <br />existing trunk water main along Aqua Lane and connect with water main extended north of <br />Black Duck Drive. This project is a critical component of our system that completes a major <br />loop and provides redundancy between Tower No. 1 and the well fields located in the southern <br />part of the city. This connection is currently served solely by an existing trunk line along <br />Hodgson Road. <br />The City Engineer, WSB and Associates, has submitted a proposal to provide final design and <br />bidding services for the proposed improvements in the amount of $49,350.00. The estimated <br />construction cost of the project is $1,030,000. The project will be funded though the Trunk Area <br />and Unit Fund. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Staff is recommending approval of Resolution No. 15-29 authorizing preparation of plans and <br />specifications. <br />ATTACHMENTS <br />1.
