CITY COUNCIL
AGENDA ITEM 1D
STAFF ORIGINATOR: Rick DeGardner, Public Services Director
MEETING DATE: July 28, 2014
TOPIC: Consider Resolution No. 14-79, Supporting The Development of the
Chain of Lakes -Otter Lake Regional Trail
VOTE REQUIRED: 3/5
INTRODUCTION
Anoka County is requesting the Lino Lakes City Council pass a resolution supporting the
Development of the Chain of Lakes -Otter Lake Regional Trail.
BACKGROUND
The proposed Chain of Lakes -Otter Lake Regional Trail corridor is approximately 3 miles long
and connects Anoka County and the Cities of Centerville and Lino Lakes with Ramsey County.
The trail is proposed to follow the east side of CSAH 21/Centerville Road north/south to CSAH
34/Birch Street. From there it is proposed to head southeast around Amelia Lake to County
Road J, at which point the trail is proposed to head east and connect to a future Ramsey County
regional trail along Otter Lake Road. The trail provides a critical link between the counties of
Anoka and Ramsey and the regional parks and trails system. The Chain of Lakes -Otter Lake
Regional Trail connects to the Central Anoka County and the Bunker- Chain of Lakes regional
trails, as well as the Ramsey County bikeway system, Bald Eagle -Otter Lakes Regional Park
and ultimately to Tamarack Nature Center.
For more detailed information, the Chain of Lakes -Otter Lake Regional Trail Master Plan can
be reviewed at https://www.anokacounty.us/documentcenter/view/4659
RECOMMENDATION
Approve Resolution No. 14-79, Supporting the Development of the Chain of Lakes -Otter Lake
Regional Trail.
