CITY COUNCIL <br />AGENDA ITEM 5A <br />STAFF ORIGINATOR: Rick DeGardner, Public Services Director <br />MEETING DATE: July 28, 2014 <br />TOPIC: Consider Resolution No. 14-80, Accepting Blue Heron Days <br />Festival Donations <br />VOTE REQUIRED: 3/5 <br />INTRODUCTION <br />The 11th Annual Lino Lakes Blue Heron Days Festival will be held August 15-17. There are <br />many fantastic events that the Public Services Department has been coordinating. This year's <br />Grand Marshall is Steve Thomas who is a local freelance illustrator/graphic artist. Mr. Thomas <br />has created artwork under such licenses as Star Wars, Disney, Fox, Star Trek, The Muppets and <br />Marvel. The parade will be held on Saturday, August 16 at 11:OOam on Lake Drive and feature <br />the River City Rhythm Drumline. <br />Other popular events include the street dance on Friday and Saturday night at Tavern on Main, <br />Movie in the Park (Despicable Me 2) at Lino Park, Quad Chamber Business Expo, American <br />Legion Family Picnic, YMCA Splash and Dash, Kiddie Carnival, Lions Petting Zoo, <br />Centennial Fire Open House, CERT Team Blood Drive, Blue Out 5K Fun Run and much more! <br />The Lino Lakes Ambassador Coronation is held on Sunday of that weekend to crown next <br />year's Ambassadors. <br />The most up-to-date information regarding Blue Heron Days can be found at <br />www.blueherondays.org <br />BACKGROUND <br />The following organizations have graciously donated funds to help make Blue Heron Days a <br />success: <br />Twin Cities Gateway $6,552 <br />Blaine Festival $5,000 <br />EJM Pipe Services, Inc. $1,000 <br />Teknapack, Inc. $ 500 <br />Creative Kids Academy $ 200 <br />E.G.
