STAFF ORIGINATOR:
MEETING DATE:
TOPIC:
CITY COUNCIL
AGENDA ITEM 3A
Lisa Hogstad-Osterhues. Deputy City Clerk
September 8, 2014
Resolution No. 14-102, Approving Issuance of an On -Sale
and Special Sunday Sales Liquor Licenses for Paleos
VOTE REQUIRED: 3/5
BACKGROUND
John and Elizabeth Pavlick have signed a lease at 566 Lilac Street (former Red Oak site) and
applied for an on -sale and special Sunday liquor license for their restaurant Paleos. The liquor
license would run through June 30, 2015 along with all liquor licenses in the city.
Paleos is the name of the restaurant and is a style of eating.
The liquor license requires additional approval by the Minnesota Department of Public Safety
Alcohol and Gambling Division. Paperwork will be forwarded to the state if local approval is
granted.
Under city policy, applicants applying for license are required to undergo a background
investigation. The Lino Lakes Police Department has performed the background investigation
and has reported no information that would make applicants ineligible for license.
Paleos is required to submit verification of liquor liability and workers' compensation
insurance as well as pay appropriate fees. No license will be released until all requirements are
met.
The city code requires that when the city council considers the issuance of a liquor license,
opportunity shall be given to any person to be heard for or against the granting of the license.
RECOMMENDATION
Adopt Resolution 14-102 Approving Issuance of an On -Sale and Special Sunday Sales Liquor
Licenses for Paleos for the time of approval through June 30, 2015.
ATTACHMENTS
Resolution 14-102
