CITY COUNCIL
AGENDA ITEM 1G
STAFF ORIGINATOR Al Rolek
MEETING DATE October 13, 2014
TOPIC Consideration of Resolution 14-119 Authorizing Application for
Abatement/Addition of Special Assessment
VOTE REQUIRED 3/5
INTRODUCTION
It has come to the attention of staff that a special assessment levied in 2013 was mistakenly placed on the
wrong parcel. Approval of Resolution 14-119 will correct this error.
BACKGROUND
In October, 2013 the City Council adopted Resolution 13-112 approving a special assessment for the Apollo
Business Center. The assessment was erroneously placed on a parcel other the Apollo Business Center
parcel. Staff became aware of this error when the owner of the parcel contacted the City in late September.
Anoka County Property Records Department was contacted to obtain the proper procedure to correct the
error. Following discussions with Anoka County, staff has prepared Resolution 14-119 which will abate the
erroneous special assessment and add the assessment to the correct parcel. Any amounts paid in error will
be rebated to the property owner by Anoka County.
RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommendation is for the City Council to approve Resolution 14-119.
ATTACHMENTS
Resolution 14-119.
