At this time, there is consideration by the City to develop these properties into a future fire <br />station and/or other community facilities which may include a recreation complex and <br />associated facilities. With this in mind, an amendment to the Civic/Institutional land use <br />designation, which is intended to "accommodate public buildings or facilities, private or public <br />utilities and infrastructure, public and private schools, and cemeteries", would better suit the <br />anticipated future redevelopment of the property. <br />Proposed Amendments <br />The proposed amendments to the City's Comprehensive Plan are detailed in Resolution No. 14- <br />131. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />The Planning & Zoning Board held a public hearing on October 8, 2014. There were no public <br />comments and the Board made recommendation of approval to the Council. <br />In accordance with the Metropolitan Council and Minnesota State Statutes, if the City <br />recommends approval of the proposed comprehensive plan amendments as it relates to the <br />change in the future land use designation and sanitary sewer district allocation, the City must <br />submit the proposed amendment to the Metropolitan Council for their review and approval. <br />Staff recommends approval of the Comprehensive Plan Amendments with the following <br />condition: <br />1. The adoption of the amendments to the City's Comprehensive Plan is subject to review <br />and approval by the Metropolitan Council. <br />ATTACHMENTS <br />1. Site Location Map <br />2.
