STAFF ORIGINATOR:
CC MEETING DATE:
TOPIC:
Background
AGENDA ITEM 6A
Paul Bengtson
November 28, 2011
Zoning Ordinance Amendment — Accessory Outdoor
Storage as Interim Use
i. Second Reading of Ordinance Number 21-11,
Amending Section 8 of the Zoning Ordinance
to add Outdoor Storage as an Accessory Use
by Interim Use Permit in the Light Industrial
zoning district
On November 14, 2011 the City Council approved the First Reading of Ordinance
Number 21-11. The proposed ordinance amendment will allow accessory outdoor
storage within the Light Industrial district on an interim basis. The City Council had
previously discussed this request at the November 7, 2011 work session.
On October 6, 2011 the Economic Development Advisory Committee considered this
request at their regular meeting, ultimately recommending approval of the ordinance
amendment on a 3-2 vote.
The Planning and Zoning Board held a public hearing on October 12, 2011, and
considering this request. After much deliberation, the board remained deadlocked and
forwards the request to the City Council without a recommendation.
Ordinance and Findings
The attached ordinance includes the revisions proposed by the applicant, amending the
interim use permit for outdoor storage to include both principal and accessory forms of
outdoor storage.
Based on the discussions with the Economic Development Advisory Committee and the
Planning and Zoning Board, staff has collected some findings in support of the request
and included those in Ordinance Number 21-11.
Staff Recommendation
Staff recommends of denial based on the findings in the November 14, 2011 staff report.
Attachments
1. Ordinance Number 21-11, Approving the Zoning Amendment
