• <br />• <br />CITY OF LINO LAKES <br />RESOLUTION NO. 15-18 <br />SUPPORTING SEPTEMBER 1, 2015 DEADLINE FOR TRANSFER OF <br />A FIREFIGHTERS SERVICE CREDITS AND PENSION ASSETS FROM THE <br />CENTENNIAL FIRE RELIEF ASSOCIATION TO LINO LAKES <br />WHEREAS, the City of Lino Lakes and the Centennial Fire Relief Association are seeking <br />special legislation to allow Centennial Fire District firefighters to transfer their pension service <br />credits and assets to Lino Lakes when they become employed by Lino Lakes as a paid -on-call <br />firefighter; and <br />WHEREAS, Representative Linda Runbeck has agreed to be the Chief House Author of the <br />legislative bill; and <br />WHEREAS, Nyle Zikmund of Fire Services Consulting is drafting a bill on behalf of the <br />Centennial Fire Relief Association that includes three transfer dates for service credits and <br />pension assets—January 1, 2016, January 1. 2017, and January 1, 2018; and <br />WHEREAS, the City of Lino Lakes is preparing for delivery of fire services to the Lino lakes <br />community by January 1, 2016, and is currently hiring and training fire personnel for integration <br />of fire services in the Public Safety Department; and <br />WHEREAS, it is necessary for interested Centennial firefighters to transfer their pension credits <br />and assets by September 1, 2015, to ensure proper planning and staffing of fire personnel by <br />January 1, 2016; and <br />WHEREAS, the City Council supports the recommendation of the Public Safety Director, John <br />Swenson, that the deadline be September 1, 2015. <br />NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Lino Lakes <br />supports the Public Safety Director's recommendation of a September 1, 2015 deadline for the <br />transfer of service credits and pension assets to Lino Lakes. <br />Adopted by the City Council of the City of Lino Lakes this 9th day of February 2015. <br />The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was introduced by Council Member <br />Roeser and was duly seconded by Council Member Rafferty and upon <br />vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: <br />Roeser, Rafferty, Kusterman, Stoesz, Rein <br />The following voted against same: <br />none <br />ATTEST: <br />r <br />�Ji}9ianne Bartell, CJity rk <br />Jeff Reinert, <br />
