Blair, City Clerk <br />MEETING DATE: October 27, 2003 <br />TOPIC: <br />Consider Adoption of Resolution No. 03-198, <br />Authorizing Transfer of Liquor License and <br />Issuance of New Tobacco License for <br />J & K Liquors <br />VOTE REQUIRED: Simple Majority <br />BACKGROUND: <br />An application has been submitted by an attorney for Maynua Her for transfer of an <br />existing Off -Sale Liquor License for J & K Liquor, 6013 Hodgson Road, from the present <br />owner, Brian Thorson. The application is complete, and the necessary fees have been <br />paid. The application has also been submitted for a tobacco license for the new owner at <br />this location, in conjunction with this request. <br />The Lino Lakes Police Department has conducted a background investigation relative to <br />these applications as required and found no problems nor any reason to deny the <br />application. <br />In accordance with the City Code Section 701, Liquor Licensing, this business requires <br />City approval for transfer of an existing Off -Sale Liquor License, and this business <br />qualifies for such transfer of existing license. <br />In addition, in accordance with the City Code Section 602, Regulating the Sale, <br />Possession and use of Tobacco Products and Tobacco Related Devices, this new business <br />requires a Tobacco License from the City of Lino Lakes to engage in sales of any tobacco <br />products, and this business qualifies for such Tobacco License. <br />The applicant is fully aware license approval is subject to all the provisions and <br />conditions of the laws of the city, state and of the federal government. <br />OPTIONS: <br />1. Approve Application for transfer of existing Off -Sale Liquor License <br />2. Deny Application for transfer of existing Off -Sale Liquor License <br />
