Filter Strip. A linear strip of land along a lake, wetland, river, creek, or <br />stormwater ponding area where vegetation is established and maintained as a <br />means to slow the velocity of stormwater drainage and to filter sediment and <br />pollutants from the stormwater. <br />Filling. The act of depositing any rock, soil, gravel, sand or other material on a <br />site. <br />Flood. A temporary rise in a stream flow or stage which results in inundation of <br />the areas adjacent to the channel. <br />Flood Fringe. That portion of the floodplain outside of the floodway. <br />Floodplain. The areas adjoining a watercourse which have been or hereafter <br />may be covered by the regional flood. <br />Flood Profile. A graph or a longitudinal plot of water surface elevation of a <br />flood event along a reach of a stream or river. <br />Floodway. The channel of the watercourse and those portions of the adjoining <br />floodplains which are reasonably required to carry and discharge the regional <br />flood. <br />Floor Area, Net. The total of all floor areas of a building, excluding stairwells <br />and elevator shafts, equipment rooms, interior vehicular parking or loading; and <br />all floors below the first or ground floor, except when used or intended to be used <br />for human habitation or service to the public. <br />Footprint. The horizontal area measured within the outside of the exterior walls <br />and supporting columns of the ground floor of a building or structure. <br />Garage. A deck building or structure, or part thereof, used or intended to be <br />used for the parking and storage of vehicles. <br />Garage, Public. A garage other than a private garage, used for the housing or <br />care of motor vehicles, or where such vehicles are equipped for operation <br />repairs, or kept for renumeration, hire or sale. <br />Garage, Storage. Any building or premises used for the storage only of motor - <br />driven vehicles, pursuant to previous arrangements, not to transients, where no <br />equipment, parts, fuel, grease or oil are sold and vehicles are not equipped, <br />serviced, repaired, hired or sold. <br />Gazebo. A freestanding accessory structure or pavilion from which views of <br />surrounding scenery are commonly offered.
