AGENDA ITEM 4D <br />STAFF ORIGINATOR: Linda Waite Smith, City Administrator <br />MEETING DATE: December 16, 2002 <br />TOPIC: Consider Resolution 02-181 Authorizing Advertising <br />for Bids for Mold Remediation in City Hall and Police <br />Station <br />VOTE REQUIRED: 3/5 <br />BACKGROUND: <br />The City has engaged the Institute for Environmental Assessment to assist us in <br />addressing mold issues in the Civic Center Complex. IEA representatives have estimated <br />the cost of mold remediation in the City Hall and Police Station sections of the complex <br />will be between $50,000 and $70,000. We are required to follow the bidding process on <br />expenditures of this magnitude. IEA will help write bid specifications and evaluate the <br />bids received. In the meantime, in order to proceed in a timely manner, we are seeking <br />City Council authorization to advertise for bids as soon as the bid specifications are <br />completed. <br />City Council approval will be required at a later date to designate the winning bid and <br />authorize work to proceed. <br />Per Resolution 02-181, we are requesting authorization to advertise for bids for mold <br />remediation in City Hall and the Police Station. <br />OPTIONS: <br />1. Adopt Resolution 02-181 Authorizing Advertisement for Bids for Mold <br />Remediation in City Hall and the Police Station. <br />2. Decline to Adopt Resolution 02-181. <br />3. Return to staff for further review and/or action. <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />1. Option #1 <br />
