Studenski, City Engineer <br />COUNCIL MEETING DATE: December 16, 2002 <br />TOPIC: Resolution No. 02-191, Receive Quotes and Award Contract, Ditch/Pond <br />Cleaning <br />VOTE REQUIRED: 3/5 Vote Required <br />BACKGROUND: <br />Quotes were received and publicly opened on December 10, 2002. The results of the <br />quotes are presented below. City Council action is required to award a contract to the <br />lowest responsible bidder. <br />Contractor Amount of Bid <br />Amt Construction Company, Inc. $49,731.70 <br />C.W. Houle, Inc. No Bid <br />Glen Rehbein Excavating No Bid <br />Ro-So Contracting No Bid <br />W.B. Miller, Inc. No Bid <br />Attached is a copy of the submitted quote. <br />We received calls from most of the bidders and they were unsure about placing a bid <br />due to the competitiveness of this type of work. This project will perform the necessary <br />maintenance work as part of the Surface Water Management Projects. <br />The funding for this work is provided by the Surface Water Management Fund. This <br />fund was established in 1992 as a revenue source in order to meet the "administrative, <br />planning, ponding, mitigation, and water quality needs" of the City. It is reimbursed <br />through assessments to new subdivisions and is also collected as property owners <br />connect to City utilities. <br />OPTIONS: <br />1. Retum to staff for further review. <br />2. Adopt Resolution Number 02-191, accepting quotes and awarding a contract to Amt <br />Construction Company, for the Ditch/Pond Cleaning project. <br />3. Not adopt Resolution No. 02-191. <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Option No. 2 - Staff recommends adoption of Resolution Number 02-191 <br />
