AGENDA ITEM 6L <br />STAFF ORIGINATOR: John Powell, City Engineer <br />COUNCIL MEETING DATE: April 24, 2000 <br />TOPIC: Resolution No. 00 - 46 — Adopt TH 242/CSAH 14 Access Management <br />Plan <br />VOTE REQUIRED: Simple Majority <br />BACKGROUND: <br />At the April 5, 2000, City Council Work Session, we reviewed the May 1999 Access <br />Management Plan in detail. The City supported preparation of this study through direct cost <br />sharing and staff time spent serving on the Technical Advisory Committee. The study was <br />prepared to evaluate the ability of the CSAH 14 (Main Street) corridor to serve the local <br />communities and to connect regional transportation facilities now and in the future. It also <br />provides uniform guidance to local communities regarding access management. The main <br />goals as stated in the study were as follows: <br />• Maintain an acceptable level of mobility <br />• Reduce the potential for safety problems <br />• Promote appropriate property access <br />• Facilitate cooperation between agencies and jurisdictions for implementing the Plan <br />Anoka County is requesting that we formally adopt this access management plan and <br />incorporate its recommendations into our ordinances and review procedures. <br />OPTIONS: <br />1. Return to staff for further review. <br />2. Approve Resolution No. 00-46 Adopting the TH 242/CSAH 14 Access Management Plan <br />3. Not approve Resolution No. 00-46 <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Option No. 2 - Staff recommends that Resolution No. 00-46 be adopted. <br />
