AGENDA ITEM 6D <br />STAFF ORIGINATOR: John Powell, City Engineer <br />COUNCIL MEETING DATE: May 22, 2000 <br />TOPIC: Resolution No. 00-62, Receive Bids, Apollo Drive Phase 4 <br />VOTE REQUIRED: Simple Majority <br />BACKGROUND: <br />Sealed bid were received and publicly opened at 9:00 a.m. on Friday, May 19, 2000. <br />The results of the bid opening are presented below: <br />Contractor Amount of Bid <br />Dave Perkins Contracting, Inc. <br />S. Weidema, Inc. <br />Midwest Asphalt Corp. <br />Engineer's Estimate <br />$183,117.50 <br />$217,195.05 <br />$234,481.90 <br />$233,985.00 <br />The low bid is approximately 22% below the Engineer's Estimate for this project. A copy <br />of the complete bid tabulation is attached. The funding for this work is provided by <br />assessments to the benefiting properties. <br />The City either needs possession of the right-of-way or a right -of -entry agreement to <br />proceed with the award of the contract. It is our understanding neither of these has <br />occurred. <br />OPTIONS: <br />1. Return to staff for further review. <br />2. Adopt Resolution Number 00-62, receiving bids for the Apollo Drive Phase 4 project. <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Option No. 2 — Staff recommends adoption of Resolution No. 00-62. <br />
