SECTION 32 11 23 <br />AGGREGATE BASE COURSES <br />PART 1 GENERAL <br />1.01 SUMMARY <br />A. Section Includes <br />1. Requirements for aggregate base course on a prepared subgrade. <br />B. Related Sections <br />1. Section 31 23 13 - Subgrade Preparation. <br />2. Section 32 12 01 - Flexible Paving (Municipal Projects). <br />1.02 PRICE AND PAYMENT PROCEDURES <br />A. Measurement and Payment <br />1. A Bid Item has been provided for Aggregate Base, Class 5. Measurement will be by the <br />ton of material compacted in place as determined from weight tickets delivered to <br />the Engineer <br />a. If the aggregate base course material is being wasted or placed excessively thick, <br />the Owner reserves the right to deduct quantities that are in excess of Drawing <br />thickness. Said quantities shall be based on material weighing 110 pounds per <br />square yard of area per inch of thickness. <br />2. All other Work and costs of this Section shall be incidental to the Project and included <br />in the Total Base Bid. <br />1.03 REFERENCES <br />A. Minnesota Department of Transportation "Standard Specifications for Construction," <br />2014 Edition (MnDOT Spec.) <br />1. 2211 - Aggregate Base. <br />2. 3138 - Aggregate for Surface and Base Courses. <br />1.04 SUBMITTAL <br />A. Submit gradation report on sample of aggregate base to be used. <br />1.05 SEQUENCING AND SCHEDULING <br />A. Construct aggregate base only after all of the following have been completed: <br />1. Subgrade has been corrected for instability problems and successfully passed a test <br />rolling test performed by the Contractor and witnessed by the Engineer. <br />2. Subgrade has been checked for conformance to line and grade tolerances <br />(stringline). <br />PART 2 PRODUCTS <br />2.01 MATERIALS <br />A.
