c. Install a new 24 -inch diameter, pressure style manway in the upper bowl. This will bring <br />the tank into compliance with OSHA Confined Space Entry requirements. This manway <br />should include a ladder from the top platform to the bowl for safe access. See KLM <br />Drawing No. 26 in Section 00 31 00. <br />3. Exterior Structural <br />a. Install three (3) 24 -inch diameter round, hinged cover, roof ventilation manways with two <br />located near the roof edge approximately 180 degrees from each other and one adjacent <br />to the new interior painters rail. See KLM Drawing No. 25 in Section 00 31 00. <br />b. Replace the tank vent/finial with a 24 -inch diameter frost free pressure pallet vent with a <br />removable top, similar to the one shown on KLM drawing no. 37 in Section 00 31 00. <br />1.02 MEASUREMENT AND PAYMENT <br />A. A Lump Sum Bid Item is provided for Structural Repairs and Modification, which includes all items <br />listed in Part 1.01 of this Section, except for Items g and h listed in Part 1.01.A.1. Lump Sum Bid <br />Item is for all work generally described by the Bid Item that is shown, specified, or implied by the <br />Contract Documents. <br />B. A Unit Price Bid Item is provided for Welding, Grinding, and Removal of Erection Bracket Scab <br />Marks and Weld Spatter. Payment by the man-hour for pit welding, grinding, or removal of the <br />erection bracket scab marks shall be compensation in full for all labor, equipment, and materials <br />for this work. Welding and grinding attributable to specified repairs, modifications, or specified seal <br />welding will not be paid hourly, since it is covered in the Lump Sum Bid Items. <br />1. The unit price for surface repairs shall include all costs for labor, materials, and equipment to <br />properly complete all work as described above, including all incidental work as shown on the <br />drawings, described in the specifications, or otherwise required to complete the work. <br />Measurement of the man-hours required to complete the surface repairs shall include each <br />hour of labor performed to physically repair by welding or grinding existing surface defects to <br />the required condition. Measurement will be made for each man-hour performed by the <br />Contractor to complete the work. Such measurements of surface repair man-hours will be <br />recorded and made by the Engineer and all decisions will be final. All work incidental to <br />performing these surface repairs, including but not limited to rigging, blasting and surface <br />preparation, or otherwise required to complete the work shall be included in the unit price for <br />the work. The services of a person on the ground (ground man), as required by OSHA, during <br />times when surface repair work is being performed, shall also be considered incidental work, <br />and expenses for such work or services shall be included in the unit price for the work. Hours <br />for a ground man will not be included in the measurement of the surface repair man-hours. <br />C. All other Work and costs of this Section shall be incidental to the Project and included in the Total <br />Base Bid. <br />1.03 SUBMITTALS <br />A. Submit shop drawings for the following items: <br />1. Bowl pressure style manway per Paragraph 1.01.A.2.c. <br />2. Fail-safe (pressure -vacuum relief) with removable vent per Paragraph 1.01.A.2.a. <br />3. 24 inch diameter hinged roof manway per Paragraph 1.01.A.3.a. <br />4. Interior roof intermediate painters rails per Paragraph 1.01.A.1.f <br />5. Safety Climb Devices per Paragraph 1.01.A.2.a <br />6.
