Council <br />96 Member Roeser seconded the motion. Motion carried on a voice vote. <br />97 <br />98 4B) Consider Hiring Paid On -Call Firefighter - Police Chief Swenson requested council <br />99 authorization to hire Westley Thole. He has passed through the department's thorough and rigorous <br />100 hiring process and staff is excited to bring him into the city's fire department. <br />101 <br />102 Council Member Kusterman moved to approve the hiring of Westley Thole as recommended. <br />103 Council Member Roeser seconded the motion. Motion carried on a voice vote. <br />104 <br />105 4C) Public Safety Department Update — Police Chief Swenson updated the council: <br />106 - Personnel, Training and Recruitment — There are currently 39 fully certified firefighters and <br />107 training for additional positions will begin again in January; there are 14 fire trained staff <br />108 assigned to Station 1, and 13 assigned to Station 2. <br />109 - Fire Services — The current status is that Lino Lakes Fire Department staff is responding fully <br />110 to calls along with Centennial Fire District; as of January 1, Lino Lakes Fire Department will <br />111 be the primary responder. <br />112 - Equipment — equipment from the Centennial Fire District will be received in January. <br />113 - There will be a Meet and Greet at Station 1 to bring together new and old staff. <br />114 <br />115 PUBLIC SERVICES DEPARTMENT REPORT <br />116 <br />117 4A) Consider Resolution No. 15-152, Approving Plans and Specifications and Authorizing <br />118 Advertisement for Bids for Water Tower #1 Reconditioning Project — Public Services Director <br />119 DeGardner read the staff report outlining the plans and schedule to move forward on a project to <br />120 recondition the city's Water Tower #1. <br />121 <br />122 Council Member Rafferty moved to approve Resolution No. 15-152 as presented. Council Member <br />123 Stoesz seconded the motion. Motion carried on a voice vote. <br />124 <br />125 6A) Resolution No. 15-155, Accepting Quotes and Awarding the Construction Contract for <br />126 the 2015 Surface Water Management Project - Community Development Director Grochala <br />127 reviewed plans to move forward with this annual project. <br />128 <br />129 Council Member Kusterman moved to approve Resolution No. 15-155 as presented. Council <br />130 Member Roeser seconded the motion. Motion carried on a voice vote. <br />131 <br />132 COMMUNITY EVENTS <br />133 <br />134 Mayor Reinert introduced a representative of the Beyond the Yellow Ribbon Community network and <br />135 noted that the City is working to become a Yellow Ribbon community. <br />3 <br />
