COUNCIL MINUTES January 25, 2016 <br />91 Administrator Karlson asked if the council would consider removing the update as a regular council <br />92 agenda item since the services are now up and running. Mayor Reinert suggested that the council <br />93 will discuss that change at their next work session. <br />94 <br />95 PUBLIC SERVICES DEPARTMENT REPORT <br />96 <br />97 5A) Resolution No. 1606, Approving Plans and Specifications and Authorizing <br />98 Advertisement for Bids for the Lino Lakes Fire Station No. 1 Roof Replacement Project — <br />99 Community Development Director Grochala reviewed the written report. The council is being <br />100 requested to approve the plans and specifications and authorize a bid process for this project. The <br />101 building was constructed in 1991 and the roof has exceeded its planned life. The roof has been <br />102 examined and it is failing. The project itself is estimated at about $140,000 and funds are available <br />103 in the budget. He reviewed the proposed schedule for consideration of bids and the project itself. <br />104 <br />105 Council Member Manthey confirmed that the project wouldn't interfere with the use of the fire station <br />106 facility as a polling place for this year's presidential election. <br />107 <br />108 Council Member Kusterman confirmed that the bid process will include only consideration of <br />109 contractors qualified for this type of specialized project. <br />110 <br />111 Mayor Reinert asked staff to check on the possibility of reverting to a metal roof that would have a <br />112 longer life. The council will have more discussion about the type of roof replacement when staff <br />113 reports on the results of this action. <br />114 <br />115 Council Member Kusterman moved to approve Resolution No. 16-06 as presented. Council Member <br />116 Maher seconded the motion. Motion carried on a voice vote. <br />117 <br />118 COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT REPORT <br />119 <br />120 6A) Consider Six -Month Employment Extension for Recycling Program Intern — Community <br />121 Development Director Grochala requested that the council extend the city's employment of Ms. <br />122 Aubrey Fonfara as a recycling intern. She has done an excellent job. He reminded the council that <br />123 the position is funded through Anoka County SCORE funds. <br />124 <br />125 Council Member Kusterman moved to approve the extension of employment as recommended. <br />126 Council Member Maher seconded the motion. Motion carried on a voice vote. <br />127 <br />128 6B) Resolution No. 16-02, Approving Classification of Tax Forfeited Properties — Community <br />129 Development Director Grochala explained that Anoka County notified the city of four properties that <br />130 have gone tax forfeited within the city. Three are located along Lake Drive by 2nd Avenue and the <br />131 fourth is lake property on Bald Eagle Lake. The city has classification authority on these properties. <br />132 He is recommending that the three Lake Drive parcels be transferred to the city (they are right/of/way) <br />133 and that the fourth parcel be held for further information and discussion. <br />134 <br />
